Sunny Prospects: Visibility, Dialogue, and Communication

Dear Reader,

In this issue, we’ll show you how interviews help convey complex content in an accessible way, why professional press photos are an important part of media relations, and how communication can effectively address socially relevant topics—from climate resilience to victim protection. You’ll also gain insights into the agency’s current and new projects, and we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary.

We hope you enjoy this issue and wish you a relaxing summer.

Interviews Are More Than Just a Question-and-Answer Game

Interviews are far more than just a spontaneous conversation. When professionally prepared, they offer the opportunity to highlight key topics, showcase your expertise, and thereby build trust. However, for interviews to be effective, they require storytelling and clear messages. In our new blog post, you’ll learn what really matters: from proper preparation and handling critical questions to the art of conveying your core messages convincingly.

How to Take Great Press Photos

Professional press photos often provide the first visual impression of a company—and are therefore a key component of credibility and visibility. This makes it all the more important to ensure that visual material is of high quality, up-to-date, and used appropriately. In the comm:unications blog, you’ll find five key tips that distinguish professional press photos and learn why good photos play a central role in media relations.

Climate-Resilient Cities Need Blue-Green Infrastructure

How can cities and regions better cope with heat, heavy rainfall, and other consequences of climate change? So-called blue-green infrastructure—the intelligent interplay of water and green spaces in urban areas—plays a central role in this. The team at comm:unications brought this topic to the media’s attention on behalf of its client, the Austrian Water and Waste Management Association. Managing Director Daniel Resch appeared as an expert on Puls 4 and ORF Wien, among other outlets, and discussed how climate-resilient infrastructure can contribute to the quality of life and sustainability of our cities. This is a good example of how interviews help explain complex topics in an accessible way and make them understandable to a broad audience.

Focus on Europe: High Visibility for EU Projects

In recent months, comm:unications has provided communications support for several exciting EU projects. The campaigns covered a wide range of topics, from design protection and counterfeit products to sustainable energy supply and innovative climate protection solutions from Austria.

Whether it’s media relations for recent studies by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) or for the European Sustainable Energy Award—the goal remains the same: to present European topics in a way that makes their relevance to the economy and society clear.

EU Campaign on Victim Protection at the Danube Island Festival

With more than three million visitors, the Danube Island Festival is not only Europe’s largest open-air festival but also a venue for addressing socially relevant issues. Together with the European Commission, comm:unications will be raising awareness on Saturday, July 4, about the protection of victims of a wide range of crimes, from discrimination and violence to racism. Inspired by the world-famous performance artist Marina Abramović, an interactive “With Open Eyes” challenge will create a space for information, discussion, and raising awareness.

The comm:unications team cordially invites you to stop by Booth 081 near the Floridsdorf Bridge starting at 1:30 p.m.

Agency News: comm:unications Celebrates 30 Years

Exactly 30 years ago, agency founder Sabine Pöhacker received her tax ID number—marking the official launch of the agency. comm:unications is marking this anniversary by launching a special anniversary campaign in the second half of the year. It kicks off with a pro bono project: Politik.Trafik will receive 30 hours of consulting support. More initiatives and insights will follow—stay tuned for details in the next newsletter.
